YAG… low energy, high efficiency

Tango Reflex’s YAG mode features an Ultra Gaussian spot profile and fast rise time. That means you can perform capsulotomies and iridotomies at lower, more efficient energy levels. With less energy delivered into the eye, you’ll be able to carry out capsulotomies with all types of IOLs and with significantly less risk of lens pitting.

Prevent post-capsulotomy floaters

The benefits of Ellex’s proprietary Reflex Technology™ extend beyond the safe treatment of floaters. Employing TCI™ to identify capsular fragments, which can give rise to subsequent floaters, Tango Reflex™ can be used to vaporize broken pieces of the fragment and help to prevent the common patient complaint of sudden floater development after capsulotomy.

In YAG mode, a continuously variable anterior and posterior offset control adjustment (from 0 to ± 500 μm in both directions) provides optimum flexibility for all procedures.
A proprietary dual-mode laser cavity, teamed with an intuitive tablet interface, allows you to instantly switch between SLT and YAG modes at the touch of a button.
For Laser Floater Treatment, the Reflex illumination mirror ensures that the laser beam is never obstructed - minimizing the risk of under-dosing or over-dosing the energy and ensuring the desired therapeutic effect.

SLT and Heavily Pigmented Trabeculum

It is important to note that less energy is required when performing SLT on patients with a heavily pigmented trabeculum. In this case study, extensive mini-bubble formation was noted at the commencement of SLT treatment, indicating that the energy level was too high. SLT and Irregular Pigmentation

One of the main theories on the mode of action in SLT (selective laser trabeculoplasty) is that the laser energy is absorbed in melanin granules in the trabeculum, which triggers a reaction that effectively reduces IOP. When performing SLT on eyes with irregular pigmentation, always ensure that focus is maintained on the target tissue, and not on the laser beam spot. In addition, the treatment beam should cover the central part of the trabecular meshwork, where pigmentation is maximal. Watch the video to learn more. SLT Treatment Protocol

SLT (selective laser trabeculoplasty) works by stimulating a natural healing response in the body to manage the elevated intraocular pressure associated with glaucoma, promoting cellular regeneration without the burn and scar tissue associated with other laser procedures. Treatment is undertaken in single shot mode, with consecutive but not overlapping spots placed over the interior half of the trabecular meshwork. To determine the optimal level of energy for each patient, the energy level is gradually increased until the threshold energy level for mini-bubble information is observed, or decreased if bubble formation is noted.
