Widen your treatment horizons

Ultra Q Reflex™ is the platform that enables you to perform the full range of anterior and posterior YAG laser procedures, including Laser Floater Treatment, capsulotomy and iridotomy procedures to the highest standards of safety, accuracy and efficacy.

With Ultra Q Reflex™ your treatment options comprise

  • LFT, Laser Floater Treatment (posterior membranectomy)
  • Capsulotomy
  • Iridotomy

Converge and focus – Reflex Technology™

The effectiveness of Laser Floater Treatment (LFT) has been transformed through the development of Ellex’s Reflex Technology™ platform, which includes TCI™ for on- and off-axis visualization, a precise aiming beam, and a superior energy beam profile — all within a unique slit lamp illumination tower design that converges and focuses your sight line, target illumination and treatment beam into one optical path.

On Axis Mode
  • Provides enhanced visualization of the middle and posterior vitreous
  • Allows for spatial context – especially near the retina
  • Red reflex helps with contrast for certain floaters
  • Ability to view anterior floaters
Off Axis Mode
  • Beneficial for visualizing anterior floaters
  • Minimizes red reflex which allows for floaters to appear “white”
  • Helps with defining posterior capsule
  • Decreases glare in some situations

Full visualization from the cornea to the retina

True Coaxial Illumination — TCI™ — is at the heart of Ultra Q Reflex™. It’s technology that provides a full view from the cornea to the retina and much-needed spatial context. The ability to titrate the TCI™ system in both on-axis and off-axis visualization permits a multitude of potential illumination settings to treat floaters in any part of the eye while maintaining the spatial context necessary to maximize safe firing.

Prevent post-capsulotomy floaters

The benefits of Ellex’s proprietary Reflex Technology™ extend beyond the safe treatment of floaters. Employing TCI™ to identify capsular fragments, which can give rise to subsequent floaters, Ultra Q Reflex™ can be used to vaporize broken pieces of the fragment and help to prevent the common patient complaint of sudden floater development after capsulotomy.

IOL-friendly photodisruption

Featuring an Ultra Gaussian beam profile, Ultra Q Reflex™ focuses more energy into the center of the beam profile to deliver greater energy density — reducing the energy needed to effectively perform capsulotomy and iridotomy and greatly reducing the risk of lens pitting.

“TCI is the heart and soul of this laser. It is what makes this system different and enables us to perform laser floater treatment with confidence.”
An optimized optical system, which includes True Coaxial Illumination – TCI™ – ensures superior visualization in both the anterior and posterior segments.
For Laser Floater Treatment, the Reflex illumination mirror ensures that the laser beam is never obstructed – minimizing the risk of under- or over-dosing the energy, ensuring that the desired therapeutic effect is achieved.

Titratable Illumination with Reflex technology™

Dr. Paul Singh (The Eye Centers of Racine and Kenosha) demonstrates the use of titratable illumination with Ultra Q Reflex which enables physicians to view floaters that are within the posterior capsule clearly, and at the same time view the retina of the eye.

Titratable Illumination with Reflex technology™

The Ultra Q Reflex incorporates a proprietary slit lamp illumination tower design, which converges the operator’s vision, the target illumination, and the treatment beam along the same optical path and onto the same optical plane. The illumination tower can be used coaxially to enhance the view of the target opacity and more effectively vaporize it.

The Clinical Impact of Floaters

Whether patients with symptomatic floaters should be offered treatment or told to “carry on regardless” continues to be debated. Moreover, whether physicians should offer laser vitreolysis or vitrectomy has also been discussed.

Ellex is the manufacturer of Reflex Technology for use in the treatment of symptomatic floater patients. It has been approved for the indication of Posterior Membranectomy (incl. Nd:YAG Laser Vitreolysis/Laser Floater Treatment) whereby it may potentially improve the patient’s perception of visual functionality. Ellex does not accept any responsibility for use of the system outside of these indications.

Ultra Q Reflex™ has a CE Mark (Conformité Européenne) and US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) (510k) Market release for the indications of Posterior Membranectomy (incl. Nd:YAG Laser Vitreolysis/Laser Floater Treatment), Capsulotomy and Laser Iridotomy.
